Uniqlo shirt, Karen Walker blazer, Sretsis Skirt, Pointer loafers (similar), YSL arty ring, Gorjana bracelet, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag

Shoes are made for walking. With each day that I take off from wearing a pair of heels, I become more and more aware that flat shoes are my friend. Generally speaking, they won't give me blisters every time I wear them regardless of how hard I have tried to wear them in, they won't pinch my toes, and the likelihood of me falling over is quite low (although I should add it is still a possibility). I could argue at length about how comfortable some of my heels are, but they don't compare in terms of comfort to a pair of flats. Nor can you run around so easily - something that I have been doing a lot more of this year as I lack the ability to drive a manual car.

I imagine that it probably doesn't show, but I've worn these pointer loafers so much since acquiring them, that the heels have worn down considerably. Obviously they are long overdue for repair at the cobblers, and as the saying goes - if you scratch my back then I'll scratch yours - if I keep my shoes in good repair, then they will continue to provide solid comfort for my feet.

And after long trying to ignore it, I've finally jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon. Must admit that it is a lot more addictive that I had anticipated - I can definitely see how many hours could be spent trawling through the site, pinning, and organising. If you want to follow me, you can do so here.

  3. See, it's the opposite for me! My flats give me blisters and kill my feet. Heels just hurt after I stand too much because of the arch, ha ha...but I'd rather hurt a little at the end of the day than get blisters. ;) Maybe I'm buying the wrong flats...
I have Pinterest too but I rarely use it because I have so much else to keep up with XD

  4. Love this look! Flats are great! I wear them when I know I will be doing a lot of walking. (They still give me blisters though. At least my feet won't cramp!)

  5. Love this, it's so smart looking, but has lots of personality too, the cut of the skirt is just great!
I'm the same as the girl above, thanks to years of wearing heels & a shortened calf muscle, I now find it more painful in flats, they kill my feet! Wedges are my best friend now! :)

PS: Sorry to hear you've also had a rubbish Summer, hope you're going somewhere nice on your holiday? :)

    1. I had the same thing, wearing heels everyday shortened my calf muscles. I ended up wearing flats for two months in the USA/Canada, and since have been wearing half flats half heels.

As for my holiday, I'm heading to Europe, so London, Amsterdam, Paris and travelling around Greece. It's my bf's first time over so should be great fun :)

  6. really cute post and i like your writing style. i like the outfit. very school girl in my opinion. and what you say about shoes is funny, although i think if you wear heels every day your feet begin to get used to it. i love heels and can walk pretty well in them, but you are right, at the end of the day nothing beats flats in terms of comfort!

  7. Normally I prefer a girl in heels oppose to anything flat (especially sandals) but the dark tights and loafers make up for it. It still gives the illusion of a elongated leg.Plus the whole ensemble itself is lovely, the neutral palette just works for any occasion.

  9. I definitely agree that you can still fall over with flats (especially someone like me who has flat feet...I tend to wobble around somehow).

Ohhh yes, Pinterest is ridiculously addicting...it's more relaxing than a bubble bath to me. I'm following you and will probably become even more addicted because I'm sure I'll end up repinning a lot of your pins :)

  10. Can't believe you managed so long wearing heels constantly in Wellington! The hills, the bricks down Cuba street ah so many death traps for heel-wearers! I always wore flats in Wellington for fear of falling on my bum! I have gone the opposite way to you, in Melbourne its so flat that I seem to be wearing heels more and more!
