Lover 'Christina' lace dress, Topshop heels
Having long ago gotten rid of most of my "special occasion" dresses, I'm often at a loss at what to wear when one does come up. In these situations, it's generally Lover to the rescue. I actually bought this dress on a whim a few months back, a rather unlikely choice for the girl who shies away from most things fitted, but I couldn't get past the beautiful ruby tone and delicate scalloped lace. It's been the ideal dress for wearing to a wedding, and to have packed in my suitcase should the need to wear it again arise.

English countryside. The past few days have seemed like an escape from reality, after travelling to a small town called Ardingly, in Sussex. No access to the internet, and nothing but small country lanes and English pubs have provided the perfect backdrop to the wedding we attended. Never had I imagined that England could be quite so picturesque and quaint, as previously London had served as my only idea as to what the rest of the country could possibly look like.

The wedding itself was held at a 14th century church just up the road from the cosy B&B we were booked into, with buses taking us to the reception at a converted barn in Brighton. The twinkling lights hanging from the ceiling added to the magic of the day, and the cake was surprisingly a multi-tiered pavlova, a nod to the traditional New Zealand dessert. Nicely tying up the wedding was an informal lunch the following day at one of the local pubs in Ardingly, giving a final opportunity to catch up with friends before going our separate ways. Next stop, Amsterdam.
